City and Liberty Museum in the Historic City Hall
Inside the historical town hall is the Stadt- und Freiheitsmuseum (city and liberty mu-seum), which offers a vivid perspective on the fascinating history of Sinsheim. The exhibits dating back over the centuries are not only educationally enriching but also attest to the fact that almost every epoch in history left its mark on the town. Sinsheim was a stronghold in the German democracy and freedom movement of 1848-49. From the old town hall (now the Stadt- und Freiheitsmuseum), the pharmacist Gustav Mayer proclaimed Germany a democratic republic and marched to Heidelberg with 250 armed militia to lend support to the Hecker Uprising…
